Who We Are
Bethel Presbyterian Church was founded in December of 1990 in Portland. We are a multigenerational, multiethnic community that has worship services and small group meetings in Korean and English, on Sundays and throughout the week.
As an immigrant church, we are reminded of where we have come from and re-envision a future together, not just for those of Korean heritage, but for everyone. We hope to build upon the church’s history of sacrifice, service, and commitment.
Our desire is to be the church as God intended for his people. We are here to be a blessing to our local community and beyond and want to serve and live as Christ did.
Our Mission
We are a community that is transformed by the Gospel of Jesus Christ and that loves and serves our neighbors in the hope that God’s will be done on earth as it is in heaven.
Our Values
We believe in the Scriptures’ unique and divine inspiration, its complete trustworthiness, and authority over all our lives. The Gospel message in both testaments reveals who Jesus is and has the power to transform people and communities by restoring all that was lost.
We value worship on Sundays together as a response to what God has done for us through Jesus Christ. It is also expressed in the way that we live throughout the week in our homes, workplaces, and our neighborhoods.
Authentic and genuine relationships are the fabric of who we are as a church. Our hope is that all of our relationships will point people to Jesus. We believe that all humanity is created in God’s image regardless of ethnicity, gender, class or background.
Service is not something that is only done on occasion or in far off locations. We serve because we have a Lord who gave his life as a ransom for us. To that end, nothing is more important than loving God and loving others. We believe in generously sharing our gifts and talents for the kingdom of God, and we also believe that all work is ministry.
